Karen Prokopec

Manager - OPS Ideas+Innovation

Karen Prokopec leads OPS Ideas+Innovation in the Ministry of Government Service.  In this role Karen is evolving corporate programs that support employee engagement.  Specifically her team is defining a refreshed approach to innovation, supporting the OPS Ideas program and ensuring OPS recognition programs are focussed on achieving the right outcomes.

In addition to her work on these corporate programs, Karen continues to support the development of the Secretary of the Cabinet’s Framework for Action, the OPS HR Plan and Regional Administrative Boundary Alignment.  In 2010 Karen led a team that supported the achievement of a Canada Award of Excellence from the National Quality Institute for the Modernization Division.

Karen has been in the OPS for over 20 years, serving in the Ministries of Environment, Natural Resources, Health and Long-term Care and various forms of the current Ministry of Government Services.  She was seconded to the Institute for Citizen-Cerntred Service for a period of 2-years where she lead the development of the national Citizens First 5 study as well as the ICCS’ Service Functions Learning and Certification program.
