Melanie Gorka
Melanie Gorka is a digital activist, designer and technologist using new media to foster change. Melanie specializes in collaborating and training people on how to use emerging technology and communications tools in emergency management and in international development. As the international development lead for CrisisCamp Toronto, Melanie builds partnerships and expertise in digital volunteerism for gender, disaster relief and social change.
Melanie co-founded Lady Atelier, an online initiative stirring up conversations about beauty which travels across North America to document and share these stories and is currently part of the Forum and Events team at the Association for Women's Rights in Development. An established public speaker, Melanie has motivated audiences on topics ranging from global collaboration, social media in emergency response, youth engagement and rural/civic participation across Canada and guest lectured at York University in their Masters of Arts in Disaster Management program.
