Walking the Wiki Talk: Co-Creating a Social Innovation Policy Framework for Ontario
On May 16, 2011, the Government of Ontario initiated a bold experiment in open policy development—one where citizens, non-profit organizations, businesses and public agencies across Ontario collaborated online and offline to co-create a policy framework for social innovation. Over the subsequent two weeks, members of the social innovation community worked together to identify better ways to unleash the sector’s potential and surface new opportunities for cross-sectoral collaboration.
The result is an impressive online resource on social innovation, including a wide-ranging analysis of the barriers and challenges facing social innovators, a database of sample case studies, and detailed proposals for action for governments, non-profits and businesses.
In this interactive session, Allyson Hewitt and Anthony Williams will share their observations on what the open policy development has achieved to date and where it might go next. Allyson Hewitt of SiG@MaRS curated the Social Innovation Summit and oversaw the wiki development. Anthony Williams is the co-author of Wikinomics and served as wiki evangelist for the project.
